According to experts, the amount of gray matter in the brain of people who get less than seven hours of sleep continuously is decreasing rapidly, due to which important parts like the hippocampus have started shrinking.

‘Poisonous waste’ is accumulating in the brain, memory becomes weak
According to the report, when we sleep, our brain works like a ‘cleansing system’. Toxic proteins like beta-amyloid are cleared from the brain during sleep. If sleep is not complete, this toxic waste starts accumulating between the brain cells. Experts at AIIMS Delhi believe that this waste later causes Alzheimer’s and severe amnesia.
