Life and death is a process which definitely comes in every person’s life. No person can avoid death. According to Garuda Purana, when a soul attains salvation then it is freed from the cycle of life and death. According to Garuda Purana, only a person who has done good deeds gets salvation, otherwise he goes to hell, due to which the person remains trapped in the cycle of life and death. Apart from this, there are different beliefs in Abrahamic religions regarding the journey of the soul after death.

According to Garuda Purana of Hindu religion, any soul takes birth in human form after 84 lakh births. In this, the soul travels through life in 84 lakh species like insects, trees, plants, birds and animals. For this reason, humans should do good deeds during their lifetime, so that they can attain salvation. Similarly, in Islam also it is believed that a soul takes birth as a human being with great difficulty. For this reason, a person should adopt religion, so that his soul can find peace on the day of judgement.

Journey of the soul after death in Islam

According to Islamic beliefs, when a person dies he is buried in a grave. After this, on the orders of Allah, two angels come near the grave. The names of these two angels have been mentioned as Munkar and Nakir, who go to the grave and ask three questions to the soul.

Both angels ask questions to the dead person as to who is his Lord. The second question asked is what is his religion. Apart from this, what was his belief about Allah? Through these questions, the angels examine what the person has learned about religion i.e. religion in his life. The person who answers these questions correctly, his grave is made as beautiful as heaven. The one who answers these questions wrongly, his grave is made like hell.

The account of the deeds of the souls living in the grave takes place on the night of doomsday. In Islam, it is called the night of doomsday when the entire earth will come to an end. On that day Allah will judge the deeds of every person.

Journey of the soul according to the beliefs of Hindu religion

According to Garuda Purana, after death, Yamraj calculates the deeds of a person. People whose deeds are not good get the punishment of hell, while those whose deeds are good get heaven and also see God. Those souls who have something left to learn in life have to be born again. People who do good deeds attain salvation.
