Nepal’s mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa conquered Mount Everest for the 32nd time, broke her own record.

Kathmandu, May 17. Nepalese mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa created history on Sunday by conquering the world’s highest mountain peak ‘Mount Everest’ for the 32nd time. Sherpa broke his own world record for the most number of successful climbs on Everest. According to the tourism department, the 56-year-old experienced mountaineer reached the 8,849 meter high peak at 10.12 am on Sunday.

The department said Sherpa was leading an expedition run by ’14 Peaks Expeditions’. According to the news of Kathmandu Post, the field office of the Tourism Department located at Everest Base Camp confirmed the successful climb. Congratulating Sherpa, the Tourism Department said that his achievement reflects his significant contribution to Nepal’s mountaineering sector and the country’s international reputation.

Born in January 1970 in a village in the Solukhumbu district of Kosi Province, Kami Rita began his career as a professional mountaineer in 1992. Sherpa first climbed Mount Everest in 1994. He successfully climbed Everest for the 31st time on May 27, 2025. On Sunday, Lhakpa Sherpa, popularly known as the ‘Mountain Queen’ and Nepal’s first woman to climb Mount Everest, broke her own world record by successfully climbing the summit for the 11th time. The Tourism Department said that Lhakpa reached the summit at 9.30 am on Sunday.
