Colombo. Indian Naval Ship ‘Sunayana’ has arrived at Colombo Port for a three-day visit as part of her operational deployment in the Indian Ocean Region. The Sri Lankan Navy said the ship arrived at the port on Friday under the ‘IOS Sagar’ initiative.
The Indian Navy said that ‘IOS Sagar’ is an initiative towards continued cooperation with the countries of the Indian Ocean region. It said an Indian Navy ship (INS Sunayna) is being deployed in the South-West Indian Ocean region with a joint contingent of India and 16 friendly countries.
According to a statement from the Indian Defense Ministry, as part of commercial and cultural activities, the multinational contingent under ‘IOS Sea’ will interact with the media, highlighting the objectives of its deployment in 2026.
It said the ship will be open to visitors during its port call, where Sri Lankan Navy personnel, school students and members of the Indian expatriate community living in Colombo are expected.
