IPL 2026 Playoff Scenarios For All Teams: Only 11 matches are left in the league stage of IPL 2026, and a fierce battle has broken out between eight teams to reach the playoffs.
IPL 2026 playoff equation for all teams
The league stage of IPL 2026 is about to end. The final match of the league stage will be played on May 24th, and only 11 matches remain. The number of matches is decreasing day by day, but eight teams still remain in the playoff race. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been eliminated, but the other eight teams still hold onto hope.
These final 11 matches will determine which four teams qualify for the playoffs. A look at the format shows that the top two teams will face off in the qualifiers. The team that wins the first qualifier will advance directly to the final. The third and fourth-placed teams will play in the eliminator.
The winner of the Eliminator and the losing team of the first Qualifier will face off in the second Qualifier, with the winner securing a place in the final. Eight teams still have a chance of reaching the playoffs: Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Playoff race between 8 teams
RCB - Royal Challengers Bangalore have 16 points. If they win even one of their next two matches, their qualification will be assured.
GT - Gujarat Titans are in a similar situation to RCB. They have 16 points and two matches remaining. If they win even one of their next two matches, Gujarat will be in the playoffs.
SRH - Sunrisers Hyderabad have 14 points from 12 matches. Normally, qualification is guaranteed with 16 points, but SRH will be able to advance to the playoffs without any reliance on winning their next two matches. They can also qualify for the playoffs with a single win, but in that case, they will have to rely on the results of their other matches.
PBKS - Punjab Kings have lost five consecutive matches. They currently have 13 points and must win both of their next two matches to secure qualification. If they win one of their next two matches, Punjab could be eliminated.
RR - Rajasthan Royals have three matches remaining, and if they win all three, no one will be able to stop them from reaching the playoffs. Rajasthan is facing a situation where they must win two of their next three matches at any cost.
CSK - Chennai Super Kings are in a difficult situation. They currently have 12 points and even if they win their next two matches, their chances will still depend on the results of other matches.
DC - Delhi Capitals has 10 points from 12 matches and two remaining matches. Even if they win both matches, they will still have 14 points. Delhi's elimination is a mere formality, as their chances of making the playoffs are less than one percent.
KKR - Kolkata Knight Riders are also stuck in a dilemma. They have 9 points from 11 matches and can reach a maximum of 15 points. Even if they win their next three matches, KKR will still have to depend on the results of their other matches.
