In IPL 2026, a very exciting match was played between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians on 14 May. In this match which lasted till the last over, Mumbai Indians won by 6 wickets. The match was so close that the result could have gone in favor of either team till the last balls. During this high pressure match, Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard was seen arguing with the umpire, after which BCCI has now taken strict action against him.
Heavy fine imposed on Pollard
In the media advisory issued by BCCI, it was told that Kieron Pollard has been fined 15 percent of the match fee. Along with this, one demerit point has also been added to his account. According to BCCI, Pollard has violated Level-1 of the IPL Code of Conduct made for players and team management. This matter is to the use of foul language during the match.
Argument with umpire
According to media advisory, Pollard had an argument with the fourth umpire during the 19th over of the second innings. During this, he used inappropriate language, due to which action was taken against him. Pollard breached Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with inappropriate behavior and language during the match. Match referee Pankaj Dharmani imposed this penalty. Pollard later admitted his mistake and accepted the punishment and fine.
Punjab Kings scored 200 runs
Batting first in the match, Punjab Kings made a big score of 200 runs. Prabhsimran Singh played a brilliant inning of 57 runs, while Azmatullah Omarzai contributed 38 runs. Shardul Thakur bowled brilliantly for Mumbai Indians and took 4 wickets. Whereas Deepak Chahar took 2 wickets.
Tilak Verma led to victory
Mumbai Indians had a fast start to chase the target of 200 runs. Ryan Rickelton played a quick inning of 48 runs. After this, Tilak Varma batted brilliantly and scored unbeaten 75 runs in 33 balls. Mumbai Indians achieved the target in the last over and won the match by 6 wickets with one ball remaining.
