Krishna Temple
Yulla Kanda Trek: There is a Krishna temple in the snowy valleys of Himachal Pradesh, which has a different identity in the world due to its height, mystery and faith. Yulla Kanda Krishna Temple located in Rora Valley of Kinnaur district is considered to be the tallest Krishna temple in the world. Now after the snow melts, the track leading to this temple has been reopened for devotees and trekkers. Reaching this temple situated at an altitude of about 12,778 feet is not an easy journey.
To reach here, devotees have to make a difficult climb of about 12 kilometers from Yulla Khas village. But as people reach the top, the spiritual peace they find may be difficult to describe. Every year in the beginning of summer, when the snow melts, the administration and local people work together to clear the path and then it is opened for devotees. This is the reason why special enthusiasm is seen among the devotees coming here as soon as the track opens. This temple also has a beautiful mythological history of its own which further thrills the people coming here.
Unique confluence of Hindu and Buddhist faith
Yulla Kanda Temple is considered very sacred not only for Hindu devotees but also for the followers of Buddhism. Many times Lamas also come here to perform special prayers. There is such an atmosphere of spiritual peace in the temple premises, where people feel very close to nature and God.

The temple is situated in the middle of the lake
The most special thing about this temple is that it is situated in the middle of a lake. According to mythological beliefs, the five Pandavas had reached here during their exile and it was they who created this lake. Later, a temple of Lord Krishna was established here. Local people have deep faith in this temple. They believe that here the wishes made with a true heart definitely get fulfilled. This is the reason why people from far and wide come here to visit after crossing difficult roads.
Unique tradition related to Kinnauri cap
Another unique tradition of Yulla Kanda Temple attracts people a lot. Here devotees float their Kinnauri caps upside down in the lake. It is believed that if the cap reaches the other side of the lake without sinking, then the person's wish is fulfilled. Local people have been following this tradition for years.
Historical fair is organized on Janmashtami
Every year on the occasion of Janmashtami a grand fair is organized here. At that time the entire area is filled with devotees, local people and tourists. The whole atmosphere becomes devotional with traditional Kinnauri culture, folk dance, bhajan-kirtan and religious rituals.
