Lucknow: Amidst the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh, the weather has suddenly taken such a turn that people are shivering. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ of torrential rain and storm in many districts of the state within the next three hours. In Moradabad division of western Uttar Pradesh, a night-like scene was seen on Tuesday afternoon itself, when thick dark clouds covered the sun completely and darkness spread on the roads.
While on one hand the rains that started with high speed winds and thunderous lightning have provided relief from the scorching heat, on the other hand it has completely disrupted life. People who came out of their homes for office and work got stuck at various places and had to take shelter in safe places.
Day turns into night in Moradabad division, people imprisoned in homes
The scene on Tuesday morning in Moradabad, Bijnor, Rampur, Amroha and Sambhal was horrifying. There was such a dark cloud in the sky early in the morning that vehicles had to be driven with headlights on during the day. Due to the active westerly winds and cyclonic pressure of the upper winds, the storm which blew at a speed of 15 to 30 kilometers per hour forced people to hide in their homes. In Moradabad, the rainy season is showing no sign of stopping.
Impact of Western Disturbance: Warning of rain, storm and hailstorm
According to the weather department’s forecast released on May 12, the effect of Western Disturbance will continue for the next few days. This means that rain, dust storm and hailstorm will not stop now. Traffic on the highway has been badly affected due to poor visibility. Although the temperature has dropped due to this change, the strong storm has increased the heartbeats of the farmers regarding the standing crops in mango orchards and fields.
Guidelines for farmers and appeal of administration
The administration has appealed to the public not to go out unnecessarily during bad weather and avoid standing under electric poles and trees. Agricultural scientists have advised farmers not to irrigate or spray pesticides on crops right now. Also, maintain proper drainage system in the fields and tie tall crops like sugarcane together so that they do not fall due to strong winds.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Shravasti, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Moradabad, Meerut, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur.
