Mangaluru: The Vijayapura-Mangaluru Central Express train service operating between Mangaluru Central and Vijayapura has started running with LHB coaches.
Railway officials said LHB coaches provide safer and more comfortable travel compared to conventional railway coaches.
The train service, numbered 17377/17378, was launched on November 11, 2019 as an “Express Special” train operating temporarily between Mangaluru Junction and Vijayapura.
The service was suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic and resumed operations in December 2021.
Since 2024, the train has been operating between Mangaluru Central and Vijayapura. From September 1, 2025, it has been functioning as a permanent train service. Officials said the train has received a good response from passengers.
Daily schedule
The train departs from Mangaluru Central at 4.45 pm every day and reaches Vijayapura at 10.30 am the next day.
In the return direction, the train leaves Vijayapura at 3.15 pm and arrives at Mangaluru Central at 9.55 am the following day.
