Chikkamagaluru: A government bus lost control and crashed into the compound wall of the government bus stand in Chikkamagaluru late on Sunday night after reportedly suffering a brake failure.
The impact of the crash completely damaged the compound wall. The bus later came to a halt after hitting a tree inside the bus stand premises.
The incident created panic among people present at the bus stand for some time.
No major injuries were reported in the incident. Local residents said a bigger accident was avoided because the incident happened inside the bus stand. They said the situation could have turned serious if the bus had lost control on a public road.
Following the accident, members of the public expressed concern over the maintenance condition of government buses. They demanded proper technical inspections and better maintenance of buses to ensure passenger safety.
