A significant uproar has erupted in Indian cricket as the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued notices to two prominent players. The allegations state that both players failed to be present during scheduled doping tests.

Details of the Notice

The cricket community was taken aback when news broke that young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and star opener of the women's team, Shafali Verma, received notices from NADA. They are accused of not being available for mandatory doping tests, leading to the first 'whereabouts failure' recorded against them. This revelation has stirred considerable activity within the cricketing world.

Reports indicate that both Yashasvi and Shafali are part of NADA's Registered Testing Pool (RTP). Players included in the RTP are required to regularly update their location information with the agency and must be available for testing at designated times. It has been reported that neither player was present for the tests at the scheduled time and did not provide a clear explanation, prompting NADA to send them notices.

Official Notices Sent to Players

A source informed that official notices have been dispatched to the concerned players, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have also been notified. However, NADA has refrained from making any public comments on the matter, citing confidentiality in the process. Currently, there has been no official statement from either player regarding this issue.

BCCI Responds to the Situation

In response to the situation, a source from BCCI stated that the board has received information about the missed tests and will seek explanations from the players involved. Necessary measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The source emphasized that cricket has now become part of the Olympics, making adherence to anti-doping regulations crucial for all players. With cricket's return to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on the horizon, BCCI is treating this matter with utmost seriousness.

Players Engaged in IPL and International Matches

Currently, Yashasvi Jaiswal is participating in IPL 2026 with the Rajasthan Royals, while Shafali Verma was recently part of the Indian women's team on a tour to South Africa. Amidst the continuous cricketing schedule and travel, players must comply with RTP protocols, which require them to be available for testing at specified times each day.
