The recent pre-monsoon rains and cool breezes have provided relief from the heat across various regions of the country. However, this cooling phase appears to be coming to an end. According to meteorological reports, temperatures are set to rise in several parts of northwest India in the coming days, potentially causing discomfort for residents. On May 10, a new western disturbance is expected to become active, which may alter the weather patterns in northern India, including the hilly states.

Weather Shift on May 10

Meteorologists indicate that a western disturbance will enter the Himalayan regions on May 10. This system is likely to bring light to moderate rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Strong winds and thunderstorms may also occur in these hilly areas. The effects of this weather system will extend to the plains, with light rain and dust storms expected in parts of Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. However, this relief may not last long.

Heat to Increase in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana

The weather department forecasts that over the next three to four days, conditions will become increasingly dry in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. With reduced rainfall, daytime temperatures are expected to rise, leading to hot winds. There is a possibility of heatwave conditions developing in the western districts of Rajasthan, while intense sunlight in Punjab and Haryana during the afternoons may cause discomfort.

Rain Continues in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh

The weather in Delhi NCR and several areas of Uttar Pradesh will remain unsettled. Over the next few days, clouds, strong winds, and light rain are anticipated. Eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain. The weather department has issued warnings for lightning in certain districts.

Alert for Bihar, Jharkhand, and Bengal

In eastern states such as Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha, pre-monsoon activities are expected to continue in the coming days. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in several districts, with some areas experiencing heavy winds and storms. Farmers have been advised to secure their crops and any exposed items.

Heavy Rain Expected in Northeast India

The northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur, may continue to experience heavy rainfall. The weather department warns that this could lead to flooding and landslides in various regions.

Weather Activity in Southern India

In parts of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, southern Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, rain is also anticipated. Pre-monsoon activities are gradually intensifying in southern India, with thunderstorms and rain expected in the evenings.

Humidity to Rise After Rain

Weather experts note that while recent rains have lowered temperatures, increasing humidity and rising heat will lead to discomfort. Residents, particularly in northwest India, should prepare for sticky weather as temperatures begin to rise again.
