The Kapoor khandaan is one of the most celebrated families in Bollywood. From Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor to Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, they have entertained audiences for generations.
Not just the men, even actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan have carried forward the iconic legacy. However, their cousin Riddhima Kapoor Sahni stayed away from showbiz for decades. At 45, she is now making her Bollywood debut with her mother Neetu Kapoor's . So, what kept her away from films? In Rishi Kapoor's memoir Khullam Khulla, Neetu had revealed that Riddhima made a conscious choice not to become an actress.
Neetu-Rishi Kapoor's Daughter Did Not Join Bollywood For THIS Reason
Riddhima was first seen in Netflix reality showFabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. But before that, Ranbir's sister stayed away from the limelight. She knew her father, despite being a veteran in the industry, was strongly against his daughter entering the world of cinema.
"Riddhima grew up knowing that if she ever told her father she wanted to be an actress, he'd kill himself," revealed and added, "She is a wonderfully talented and beautiful girl. She's a fabulous mimic and would have given any actress a run for her money. But even as a child, she knew how much it would upset her father if she decided to become an actress. He doesn't think badly of actresses or feel that girls shouldn't work in movies. But he's zealously overprotective of his wife and children."
The reason? It is as challenging as it is glamorous. Neetu had shared that the darker side of stardom worried her husband and he did not want their daughter to get caught up in it. She said this concern stayed with him throughout Riddhima's growing-up years until she married Bharat. After she settled down, Rishi felt relieved, and his bond with Riddhima became stronger and more open.
For those unversed, Riddhima is a popular Delhi-based fashion and jewellery designer and entrepreneur. She runs her own jewellery line, R Jewellery.
Daadi Ki Shaadi
Daadi Ki Shaadi is being touted as a family entertainer. Directed by Ashish R Mohan, it stars Neetu Singh, Kapil Sharma, R Sarathkumar, Sadia Khateeb and others in key roles.
Not just Riddhima, the movie will also mark Neetu and Rishi's granddaughter Samaira Sahni's debut in Bollywood. She will be seen in a cameo appearance.
