PCA also informed that the last rites of Amanpreet Singh Gill will be performed at Manimajra crematorium in Chandigarh at 4:00 pm on Wednesday. The news of Amanpreet’s demise has shocked the Punjab cricket world. This talented fast bowler, Amanpreet was a part of the India Under-19 team in the Under-19 Tri-Series held in Sri Lanka in 2007, in which Bangladesh was also included. Future Indian stars Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey were also present in that team.
Amanpreet took nine wickets in five matches in that tournament and played an important role in giving India a big win of 129 runs by taking match-winning bowling of 2/14 against Bangladesh Under-19 in the final. In domestic cricket, he played six first-class matches for Punjab between the 2006–07 and 2008–09 Ranji Trophy seasons. Even though his cricket career did not last long, his association with the game continued as a selector and administrator. His death is being considered a big loss for Punjab cricket.
