Within just 48 to 72 hours of the results, incidents of violence, clashes and vandalism are being reported from many places. Similarly, on Tuesday (May 5), political tension arose in Bamangheri area of ​​Sandeshkhali. The miscreants opened fire on the police and central security forces, injuring three security personnel.

Incidents of violence were reported from many areas
Meanwhile, a BJP worker was beaten to death in Kolkata’s Newtown area on Tuesday. It is alleged that TMC supporters were involved in this incident. This murder has created a wave of anger among the family members and local people. The situation became so tense that the police had to resort to lathicharge to control the crowd.

There have been reports of violence in many parts of the state including Newtown, Bengal. TMC office was set on fire in Jagatballabhpur, Howrah. After this, large-scale violence broke out in the Hog Market area of ​​Kolkata. There have also been reports of clashes and arson between TMC and BJP supporters in areas like Jalpaiguri, South 24 Parganas and Asansol.

Election Commission’s strict action on incidents of violence
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has adopted a strict stance on incidents of violence. He has given clear instructions to take immediate action against those indulging in violence or vandalism. The Chief Election Commissioner has directed senior officials of the state including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), Kolkata Police Commissioner and Director General (DG) of Central Armed Police Forces to remain alert. Collectors, Superintendents of Police (SP) and police officers of all the districts have been ordered to conduct continuous patrolling to keep the situation under control.

The Election Commission has also made it clear that any kind of violence will not be tolerated after the elections. Those involved in violence and vandalism will be immediately arrested.
