Synopsis

PhonePe has launched an AI-driven system to significantly accelerate merchant payment gateway integrations. This new tool, powered by AI coding assistants and PhonePe's 'Integration Intelligence,' reduces integration times from weeks to mere minutes. Businesses can now onboard faster and start accepting payments sooner, with a particular focus on empowering small and medium enterprises.

What once took weeks of coding and back-and-forth could now be done in minutes, as PhonePe rolls out a new AI-driven system aimed at speeding up how businesses start accepting payments, the company said in a statement.

PhonePe today announced the launch of its AI-powered integration layer for merchants, marking a move to simplify the payment gateway go-live process. Built for AI coding assistants and backed by PhonePe’s own ‘Integration Intelligence’ layer, the system is designed to cut integration timelines for merchants from weeks to minutes.

With the new AI agent, merchants can integrate PhonePe’s payment gateway in minutes using a conversational interface, the company said. This reduces the time taken for integration and removes the need for deep technical expertise. By automating integration workflows, businesses can go live faster, helping them start accepting payments and generating revenue sooner.

"By layering our proprietary Integration Intelligence on top of AI coding assistants, we've created an agent that doesn't just generate code, it understands payments. We're just getting started with our AI journey and there are many more exciting features in the pipeline," Rahul Chari, CTO and Founder at PhonePe said.

The company said the tool brings several benefits for merchants. Tasks that earlier took days of reading documents and debugging can now be completed in a single interaction with the AI agent. The system follows PhonePe’s payment gateway API specifications and correct payloads, while also enabling proper error handling using built-in best practices. It also improves developer productivity, allowing engineers and businesses to spend less time on integration and more on improving their products and services.

The rollout will focus first on small and medium enterprises, which often face limits in developer resources but offer strong growth potential. The company said the solution allows them to onboard quickly without technical bottlenecks.
