King Charles was crowned on this day in 2023, just eight months after officially becoming monarch on September 8, 2022. Today marks three years since dignitaries, leaders and monarchs from around the world gathered at Westminster Abbey to celebrate King Charles's coronation.
The King had already made history as the longest-serving Prince of Wales at the time that he ascended the throne, all thanks to Queen Elizabeth II's record-breaking reign of a remarkable 70 years. Despite the pomp and pageantry, the 77-year-old actually desired a smaller ceremony than in decades gone by - with both the guest list and the length of the service significantly reduced.
A royal expert previously identified that he showed that he would succeed in his role as King through his commitment to the environment.
Speaking previously to GB News, royal expert Ingrid Seward said: "He's written several books on the environment and the planet and worrying about the children and the great-grandchildren.
"He actually cares, Prince Charles has always said he really cares and I think that's what will make him a good king regardless, and he won't be able to say all these things when he's king."
The King's recent visit to the US has proved a success, especially with a speech that he gave during the state banquet alongside US President Donald Trump.
Full of praise for the King was Piers Morgan, who penned a tweet to his millions of followers on X.
He wrote: "King Charles has been a triumph on this US trip. His speeches yesterday were the most brilliant act of much-needed diplomacy that I can remember in a long time.
"He was charming, funny, courageous, and reminded everyone why the Monarchy remains one of Britain's greatest assets."
