IPL 2026: Rickelton, Rohit headline MI's stunning win over LSG

Mumbai Indians chased down the 229-run target against Lucknow Super Giants to register their third win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
The hosts were powered by 80-plus scores from their openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma.
The Wankhede Stadium witnessed a run fest as LSG posted 228/5 batting first.
Nicholas Pooran's fiery 63 powered the away team.

After being asked to bat first by stand-in MI captain Suryakumar Yadav, LSG got off to a flying start before Josh Inglis was dismissed for a five-ball 13.
However, Mitchell Marsh and Pooran rescued their side with an explosive 94-run partnership in no time.
Pooran dominated the same, taking the score to a staggering 123/1 at the end of eighth over.

However, MI made a comeback in the ninth over when Corbin Bosch dismissed both Pooran and Marsh in quick succession.

With his second maximum, the Australian became just the fourth batter to complete a half-century of sixes in LSG colors.
Marsh now has 51 sixes across 22 games for LSG.
He has overall completed 883 runs for LSG, while averaging 40.13 (SR: 155.73). His tally includes seven fifties and a hundred.

Career
Marsh has overall tallied 89 sixes across 64 IPL matches. He has scored 1,548 runs at an average of 27.64 and a strike rate of 142.27.
Eight of Marsh's 11 50-plus scores in IPL, including his solitary hundred, have come in LSG colors.
His IPL 2026 tally reads 256 runs from nine games at 28.44 (50: 1, SR: 139.13).

Pooran's explosive innings came as a surprise. In his previous eight innings, he managed just 82 runs while striking at 81.19.

His latest efforts powered him to 1,526 at 37.21. His strike rate is a stunning 174.2.
While this was Pooran's 11th fifty for LSG, only KL Rahul has breached the mark more times for the team (12). Meanwhile, the southpaw has hit 114 maximums for LSG.
Nearly 2,500 runs in IPL; 10,500-plus runs in T20s
Career
Coming to his overall IPL stats, Pooran has completed 2,438 runs at 32.07 (SR: 164.84). This was his 15th fifty in the league.
Meanwhile, Pooran has also gone past 10,500 T20 runs. He now owns 10,516 runs from 452 matches at 29.62.
This includes four tons, 64 fifties, and a strike rate of 147.44.
Rickelton torments LSG with stunning 83

Rickelton's 83 off 32 balls was laced with six fours and 8 sixes. This was his fifth IPL fifty, as he also owns a hundred.
The South African has completed 768 IPL runs at 38.40 (SR: 168.42).
380 of his runs have come across eight games in the ongoing season at 54.28 (SR: 190.95). This was his third 50-plus score.
2,000 runs at Wankhede for SKY

While leading MI in Hardik Pandya's absence, Suryakumar Yadav made a seven-ball 12 in the game.
However, during his stay, he became the second batter to complete 2,000 T20 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
SKY took 64 innings to complete 2,000 T20 runs (now 2,003) at the Wankhede.
His average reads 39.27. The veteran has recorded 15 fifties and two hundreds at the venue.

Tilak Varma completes 4,500 T20 runs

Tilak Varma, who departed for 11 off 13 balls, crossed the 4,500-run mark in T20 cricket.
Tilak achieved the 4,500-run milestone (now 4,503) in his 152nd match.
His runs have come at an average of over 41 and a strike rate of over 145.
Coming to his IPL numbers, Varma has raced to 1,703 runs at 34.74. His strike rate is a fine 145.55.
