A new controversy has erupted during the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) and it involves Sameer Rizvi and sports anchor Yesha Sagar. The issue emerged after a social media post by journalist Abhishek Tripathi, that suggested a love affair between a Uttar Pradesh-based cricketer and a woman anchor.
After the tweet went viral, many individuals took to social media and speculated that the journalist was talking about Sameer Rizvi and Yesha Sagar. It should be noted that there is no official confirmation that the tweet refers to the duo.
The viral tweets alleged that the cricketer made her comply with a few religious practices, change certain aspects of her personal behavior, delete some photographs of hers from social media, and that she was being pressurized about religious conversion, based on what her friend stated.
The viral claims further state that the two were in an affair. As per, the post made by the journalist:
"A Muslim cricketer from Uttar Pradesh is in an affair with a Hindu female anchor (not from the channel, but one anchoring in the league). The anchor's friend revealed that the cricketer tells her, "By the time I return from practice, memorize the ayats." He says, "Now you won't shake hands with any cricketer. You'll do namaste." He made her delete all the bikini photos from Instagram. Preparations for another conversion are underway. Whether this is forced or consensual, only that anchor can tell, but what kind of love is this?"
At this point, there has been no official statement from Sameer Rizvi or Yesha Sagar.

Focus Remains on IPL 2026 Amid Off-Field Noise
The allegations have sparked up a debate across social media but they do not appear to be affecting the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026. Sameer Rizvi plays for Delhi Capitals this season and the team have been doing fairly poorly as they currently have only 3 wins from 8 matches in IPL 2026.
As for Yesha Sagar, she was born in Ludhiana and then moved to Toronto. She has made her career through modeling, acting and sportscasting and has appeared in various Punjabi music videos in the recent years.
At the moment, nothing can be confirmed. It's quite understandable considering neither party has made an official comment on the matter.
