Mayurbhanj: In a heart-wrenching incident, a stray dog named Kali, hailed as a hero after she fought and killed a cobra snake that threatened to attack 30 school kids in Mayurbhanj district. She lost her own life.
As per reports, the incident took place at 8.30 am at Sri Jagannath Sishu Vidya Mandir in Dhirakula village under Udala block.
The school children were sitting in their classes in the school premises, when suddenly the venomous snake moved towards them. Kali, sensed the danger and sprang into action and attacked the snake and killed. Kali collapsed shortly after the fight and died from the effect of the bites of the venomous snake.
The villagers organised a farewell for Kali, by draping her with a white cloth, adorned by flowers and took her on a ceremonial procession on a trolley before burial.
