National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued an alert regarding this scam. According to officials, many fake websites have been created which look exactly like government portals. How does this FASTag scam happen?

According to NHAI, fraudsters create fake websites that look like the real FASTag site. These websites take the help of Ads and SEO to rank on search engines like Google. When a user visits these sites, he is asked for information to mobile number, vehicle number, bank details and payment.

The user thinks he is on the right platform, so he fills all the information. After this the payment goes directly into the account of the fraudsters. In many cases, the user does not get any confirmation or is given a fake receipt. In this way people’s money also goes away and they do not get any valid FASTag service.

Government agencies also alerted

Earlier, the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C), which works under the Home Ministry, has also warned about such scams. Officials say that nowadays fraudsters have become so clever that their websites look absolutely genuine at first glance, which makes it easy to get cheated.

  • Avoid clicking on sponsored links or unknown advertisements that appear on Google.

  • Never share sensitive information like OTP, bank details or passwords
  • If a website looks suspicious, close it immediately
