New Delhi: Back in 2022, Porsche had taken the world by storm when it created a one-off inspired by Sally Carrera, coming in Sally Blue Metallic with custom wheels and even came with her signature “tattoo” on the black bumper. Now, Porsche is going back to the Pixar world days.
To celebrate the upcoming film Toy Story 5, the carmaker will debut three bespoke cars made through its Sonderwunsch program, each taking inspiration from fan-favourite characters, which are Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Woody. For now, the cars are still under wraps.
When will Porsche debut their Toy Story 5-inspired carsThe three cars will make their official debut at the Toy Story 5 red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on June 19th. There is just one teaser photo, but that is good enough to give us some details.
Porsche’s previous Pixar partnership saw the arrival of ‘Sally 911
The image shows three covered Porsches, two appear to be standard from the back, and then there is the third one, which is more aggressively styled with a distinctive front end and even gets a rear wing. What that could be is something like the 911 GT3 Manthey. What would be amazing is if it wears the Space Ranger design language.
Toy Story production designer Bob Pauley, “Collaborating with the Sonderwunsch team has been about interpreting these characters through materials, colour, and form, staying true to who they are without being literal. It’s a design exercise rooted in storytelling.”
After the red carpet reveal, all three cars will go for sale, and proceeds are to go to the non-profit organisations that support children and communities that need it. The first Porsche-Pixar in memory had set quite a high bar, and the newest project, too, will be quite promising as well. What anyone, including myself, will be waiting for is how Porsche translates the iconic character into the signature sports car design.
