Voting is taking place today in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, due to which the situation is a public holiday. During elections, holidays are declared by the local administration in polling areas so that voters can cast their votes without any hindrance.

Banks will remain completely closed in Kerala today

According to the official holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Kerala All bank branches will remain closed today on 9th April. Due to single-phase assembly elections in Kerala, a public holiday has been declared in the entire state. At the same time, bank services may be affected in the voting areas in Assam and Puducherry, although there has been no mandatory statewide holiday announced by the RBI. Customers are advised to contact their bank before visiting the branch.

Digital services will be restored

Even though bank branches are closed in some states today, you do not need to panic. This will not have any impact on digital mediums of banking.

ATM Services: ATMs will operate as usual to withdraw cash.

Online Banking: You can transfer funds through internet banking and mobile app.

UPI: UPI services like Phone-Pay, Google-Pay will remain operational 24×7.

This month of April is full of festivals and elections. Banks are going to remain closed for several days even after April 9:

14 April: There will be bank holidays in almost the entire country on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Baisakhi and Bihu.

15 April: There will be holiday in states like Bengal, Himachal and Assam due to Himachal Day and Bengali New Year.

20 April: Banks will remain closed in many states including Karnataka on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Basava Jayanti.
