It is said that women who sleep on the ground here can discern the gender of their future child before conception. According to local lore, Goddess Sharda appears in dreams to provide these insights.
During the Navratri festival, the temple hosts the Salindra festival, which translates to 'dream visitation.' This is a time when childless women often report having dreams of the goddess while resting at the temple. Women can be found sleeping here not only at night but also during the day.
Women who visit the temple with genuine faith claim to receive blessings from the goddess, either in human form or as symbols. Additionally, they often dream of fruits or metals, which are interpreted as omens. Different items seen in dreams carry various meanings.
For instance, dreaming of fruit signifies that a joyful announcement is on the way. Specifically, seeing a guava in a dream suggests a boy will be born, while dreaming of okra indicates a girl. Conversely, visions of metals or wood are considered unfavorable signs.
It is believed that if a woman dreams of wood, stone, or metal, it signifies she may never become a mother. If a woman remains at the temple after receiving such signs, red marks may appear on her body, compelling her to leave the premises.
