Official update of RBI: The situation regarding 1 February Bank Holiday Status is completely clear. Due to today being Sunday, all private and government banks across the country will remain closed. However, today the Union Budget 2026 is being presented in the Parliament by the Central Government, due to which a special trading session is going on in the stock market (BSE/NSE), but no change has been made in the rules of weekly holidays for banks. Apart from this, today is also Guru Ravidas Jayanti, which is included in the list of bank holidays in many states. Since it falls on a Sunday, no question of additional holiday arises. What will be the impact of bank closure? Due to Bank Branch Holiday 1 February, the following services will not be available in the branches today: Cash Transactions: Cash will not be deposited or withdrawn from the bank counter. Check Clearance: Processing of checks deposited today will start from tomorrow i.e. Monday. Documentary work: Opening of new accounts, updating passbook or loan work will not be possible today. Note: Stock market will be open. Despite this, due to ‘Settlement Holiday’, settlement of deals done today will be done on Monday only.ATM and Digital Banking: The news of relief is that ATM and Online Banking Services will remain completely smooth on 1st February. You can avail these services without any interruption: UPI and Net Banking: Fund transfers (IMPS/NEFT/RTGS) will continue through mobile app and internet banking. ATM Withdrawals: Cash facility will be available in all ATMs across the country. Digital Payments: Digital means can be used for shopping and bill payments as before.
