WhatsApp is trying to make sure that there is no stone left unturned to bring all the essential features to you. Ever had a conversation on WhatsApp where you struggled to understand messages in a different language? As per a report by WhatsApp’s update tracking platform WabetaInfo, the instant messaging app is working on a feature to solve this issue. The feature can translate chat messages and channel updates in the preferred language.
So far, WhatsApp users had to manually select the language for translation, but the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.4.5 is expected to change those extra efforts. As per the report, the app will now automatically detect the language of messages and translate them—no extra effort is needed from you!
How Will It Work?
With this upcoming update, WhatsApp will handle everything in the background. Just receive a message, and if it’s in a different language, the app will detect it and offer to translate it instantly.
To make this work, you’ll need to download a language pack. The best part? Everything happens right on your device, so your messages remain private. No need to worry about data being sent to external servers—WhatsApp is keeping things secure with end-to-end encryption.
This will be a great tool for WhatsApp groups, especially those where everyone speaks different languages. So, instead of manually translating every message, you will be able to rely on this feature to automatically translate the message. Whether it’s a work- chat with international colleagues or a family group with relatives from different countries, this feature will make conversations more natural and simpler for sure.
When Can You Expect It?
Right now, this feature is still in development. That means, it’s not available to everyone just yet. But WhatsApp is actively working on fine-tuning it before rolling it out in a future update. Till then, you will have to rely on the existing feature.
