Indian benchmark indices closed in the green on Tuesday, driven by gains in and heavyweight (RIL). However, a decline in capped gains on the benchmarks.
The benchmark BSE gained 226.85 points or 0.30% to close at 76,759.81, while the broader 50 index closed at 23,249.50, higher by 86.40 points or 0.37%.

Financial stocks provided the biggest boost to the benchmarks, with the Nifty Financial Services index closing 0.4% higher, while the Nifty Bank posted advances of 0.3%. Shares of benchmark heavyweight closed nearly 1% higher.
Non-banking lender ended 2.3% higher after posting a bigger quarterly profit due to strong loan growth.
(BEL) ended 4.4%, advancing in late trading hours after the state-owned firm reported a 47.3% growth in its profit after tax (PAT) for the third quarter ended December 2024. shares were the top on the Nifty 50 benchmark.
Reliance Industries, the second-largest constituent on benchmark indexes, ended 1.4% higher.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors shares tumbled over 9% during the day’s session, with the stock closing 7% lower, after the company reported a 22% fall in consolidated net profit for the third quarter ended December 2024, weighed down by weak car sales. Tata Motors shares emerged as the biggest laggard among the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty benchmarks.
