A heated argument between a bank manager and a customer inside a Union Bank branch in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad turned into a physical altercation over a tax deduction on a fixed deposit.
The incident, which took place at the Vastrapur branch, has led to the registration of a case by the police.
The customer, identified as Jaiman Rawal, reportedly became upset after learning of the higher tax deduction on his fixed deposit. The situation escalated when Rawal allegedly struck the bank manager, Shubham, leading to a physical confrontation, NDTV reported.
A 44-second viral video shows the two men holding each other by the collar. Rawal then slaps the manager on his head while a woman, who appears to be a colleague of Shubham, urges him to let go of the situation.
In the background, an elderly woman, who is with the customer, tries to intervene by pulling the men apart. She even slaps Rawal, urging him to stop the altercation.
Despite the attempts to separate them, Rawal launches another attack, this time on another bank employee, before the situation is finally brought under control.
Following the incident, the police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further.
Man Booked For Attempting To Deposit Counterfeit Notes
In a separate incident, police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have filed a case against a 48-year-old man for attempting to deposit counterfeit currency at a local cooperative bank on Sunday.
The accused, a resident of Khadavli, visited the bank on December 3 to deposit Rs 45,000 in Rs 500 denomination notes. However, 45 of the notes were found to be counterfeit after verification.
No arrest has been made so far, but police are investigating the source of the fake currency notes. The case has been registered under section 179 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant provisions.
