Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola made his first start for the Reds in Wednesday's 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

Barcola was on the field for all three goals as Liverpool fought back from 1-0 down to take victory in their opening league-phase match of this season's Champions League.

Just after the hour mark, the France international needed treatment and was forced off. He was replaced by fellow new signing Victor Munoz as part of a double substitution, and Andoni Iraola's side went on to secure all three points.

Liverpool switch their focus back to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon, when former Reds player Alvaro Arbeloa brings his Fulham side to Anfield looking for their first points of the season.

When asked about Barcola's condition after Wednesday's comeback win over Atleti, Iraola gave reporters an update on the situation.

"It is just cramp, there is no injury," confirmed the new Reds boss.

"With Bradley, it's about building his physical condition. We don't really know - or we didn't know until now, probably - how much he can play because he hasn't had any minutes in pre-season for PSG.

"He played 30 the other day [and] today we had some question marks, how many minutes he can give us and probably now we know."

Left-back Milos Kerkez was also taken off towards the end of the Champions League opener. Iraola revealed that he too was dealing with cramp.

"I think I always want to do subs because of this, because you've given everything, you don't have any more, perfect," he said.

Liverpool now have a clearer picture of Barcola's match fitness levels, but both he and Kerkez are expected to be available to feature in Saturday's Premier League meeting with Fulham.

The Merseyside club are one of eight teams still unbeaten in the Premier League after the opening three matches of the season. In their most recent league game, they beat Ipswich Town at Portman Road after successive 2-2 draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

Fulham have lost all three of their matches, including two 3-2 defeats against Chelsea and Crystal Palace. They had gone ahead twice in their most recent outing against the Eagles.
