Bank Holiday Today: In honor of Mahanavami, on October 11, 2024, banks all around the nation will be closed for a total of 15 days, according to a statement released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on October 2nd, one of the major holidays this month. Bank closures are also being caused by state-specific festivities and regional festivals like Navratri and Durga Puja. It is noteworthy that despite the closure of physical branches, internet and digital banking services will continue to function to provide continuous access to financial services.

October 11, 2024: Due to Dussehra (Mahashtami/Mahanavami), Ayudha Puja, Durga Puja (Dasain), and Durga Ashtami, banks will be closed in many states on this day. Cities like Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Patna, Shillong, and Ranchi will not have branches.

October 12: Durga Puja (Dasain) and Dussehra (Mahanavami/Vijayadashmi) are anticipated to see more closures. Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, and a number of other towns would continue to be without banks.

Sunday, October 13, is a weekly bank holiday.

October 14: Gangtok will have a bank holiday in observance of Durga Puja (Dasain).

October 2024’s Other Important Dates:

October 17: Karnataka, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh will be closed in observance of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti and Kati Bihu.

Banks in Jammu and Kashmir will commemorate Accession Day on October 26.

October 31: Several states, notably Gujarat and West Bengal, will have closures on Diwali (Deepavali). Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday is also celebrated on this day.

Customers may utilize digital banking systems to complete their transactions even if physical branches will be closed on certain holidays.
