New Delhi. As the Lok Sabha election date approaches, the political temperature is rising and recent events have added fuel to the fire. Today, Bollywood actor Govinda joined Shiv Sena (led by Shinde faction) in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial. There is speculation that he may contest the upcoming elections from North-West Mumbai Lok Sabha constituency.
On this occasion, Govinda expressed his gratitude to Eknath Shinde and said that joining Shiv Sena today is like getting inspiration from God. He recalled his stint as a Member of Parliament for the Congress party from 2004 to 2009 and after a gap of fourteen years, he is now in alliance with Shiv Sena. Commenting on the progress and development seen in Mumbai, Govinda attributed this to the ongoing developmental projects.
In his address, Govinda praised Prime Minister Modi for his positive conduct and increasing India's prestige on the global stage. He noted the symbolism of his attending on Ganesh Chaturthi and compared it to the significance of Chief Minister Shinde welcoming Modi on Ganesh Jayanti. In return, Chief Minister Shinde assured that Govinda's entry into the party is unconditional and he will work as a star campaigner for the party.
