One Arsenal target has stepped up the pressure on his club in an effort to seal a move to the champions.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains keen to bring in a top-class forward before the transfer window shuts.
The Premier League champions have so far added only Christos Tzolis in attack as a replacement for Leandro Trossard, but they are still looking to move on players such as Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson before the window closes in order to free up funds for a high-value attacker.
Even so, it may be a younger player who arrives first, after a contract issue emerged at Blackburn Rovers.
According to a fresh report from James McNicholas of The Athletic, England youth striker Igor Tyjon remains a significant target for Arsenal.
McNicholas reports that Tyjon has refused to sign a professional deal with Rovers, with the club taking the fairly unusual step of extending his scholarship agreement yet again for a third season.
Tyjon has been on Arsenal's radar for a long time, and reporter Alan Nixon has claimed on his Patreon that the striker has now formally requested that Blackburn de-register him so he can complete his move to N5.
Arsenal have put forward £1 million for the youngster, along with another £2m up front to secure his signing, although Tyjon would probably not come in as a first-team option.
The Gunners are still chasing players such as Victor Osimhen and Julian Alvarez to strengthen an attacking unit that already includes Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and World Cup winner Mikel Merino as an emergency option, with Barnet-born 18-year-old Andre Harriman-Annous next in the queue.
Arteta has shown that he is willing to trust Harriman-Annous, who is the nephew of England rugby and British & Irish Lions captain Maro Itoje, by handing him a competition debut in both the Champions League and the Carabao Cup over the past 12 months.
Tyjon is also only 18, and has made two appearances in the Football League for Blackburn while representing England at under-16, under-17 and under-18 levels.
Tyjon is also eligible to play for Poland, a country he has represented at under-16 level.
The Gunners recently confirmed the appointment of David Horseman as their new under-21 head coach.
Arsenal will begin the Premier League season against Coventry City.
