Inter: How much has Curtis Jones cost? The figures and the impact on the accounts

The England midfielder is set to become Inter’s new addition in the middle of the park.

Inter made a strong push to sign him, stayed patient and kept other options waiting. Now the chase that started last January is about to reach its conclusion. In the coming hours, Curtis Jones will leave Liverpool for Italy and travel to Milan for the customary medical before finalising the transfer.

It is not a low-cost operation for Inter, but how much will the English player cost and what effect will he have on the club’s books?

The figures

Inter have wrapped up the signing of Curtis Jones for a total of €30 million, with a further €6 million in bonuses, effectively matching Liverpool’s demands, even though those had already come down from the €40 million asked at the beginning of the summer.

Jones, for his part, will put pen to paper on a contract running until 30 June 2031, a five-year agreement worth €3.5 million net per season, plus bonuses.

Impact on the balance sheet

What do these numbers mean for the accounts this season and in the years ahead? The annual amortisation cost will be €6 million per season until the €30 million valuation changes, depending on whether the bonuses are activated or not.

The salary element, gross and without the benefits of the Growth Decree, will instead be around €6.5 million.

That means, on a yearly basis, Curtis Jones will cost Inter roughly €12.5 million in the accounts.
