Latest News :- SBI Bank submitted all details related to electoral bonds to the Election Commission yesterday. It is expected that the Election Commission will upload these details on its website for public viewing by 15th. In 2018, the central government started the process for political parties to raise funds through electoral bonds. Under this scheme, State Bank of India will issue bonds to finance political parties. Electoral bonds of Rs 1,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 1 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 crore can be purchased. It is not necessary to mention the name of the payer in the election paper.

9,188 crore through bonds: A total of 7 national parties and 24 regional parties received Rs 9,188 crore through electoral bonds between 2017-18 and 2021-22. BJP's stake alone in this is Rs 5,272 crore. This is 58 percent of the total donation. During the same period, Congress received Rs 952 crore and Trinamool Congress Rs 767 crore from electoral bonds.
Allegations were made that through electoral bonds the identity of the donor was kept secret, thereby promoting black money. In this case, the Supreme Court had canceled the process on February 15, declaring the electoral bonds illegal. SBI was directed to submit all details related to electoral bonds issued since 2019 to the Election Commission by March 6.
SBI asked for time: Collecting and classifying this information is a complex process. For this, SBI had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on March 4, requesting time till June 30. This petition came up for hearing on the 11th. A bench headed by Chief Justice Chandrachud heard this petition and said that on February 15, we ordered the publication of details of election papers. What action did SBI officials take in the last 26 days? Nothing was said about this.
Although electoral bonds are sold in various branches, all the information related to them is collected at the SBI head office in Mumbai. Therefore, compiling information from it is an easy task. Even before this, SBI has completed such works on time. In such a situation, why seek time on the election bond issue? The appeal of a bank officer against the decision of the Political Charter Bench of the Supreme Court is condemnable.
Now it is necessary to publish the details of the voter list. “Contempt of court action will be taken against SBI officials if they fail to provide the details,” it said. The Supreme Court rejected the request of SBI Bank and imposed a deadline of one day and ordered that the election documents be submitted by the evening of 12th (tomorrow).
As per the Supreme Court order in this case, SBI Bank submitted the election bond details to the Election Commission yesterday. According to the Supreme Court order, the Election Commission will have to upload these details on its website for public viewing by 15th.
