You can invest till 31st March
The popularity of the SBI Amrit Kalash Scheme can also be gauged from the fact that considering the response received after its launch, the bank has extended its deadline thrice. After its launch on April 12, 2023, the first deadline was extended from June 23, 2023, to August 15, 2023, and after that again at the last moment, it was extended till December 31. Before the start of the new year, its deadline was once again extended to March 31, 2024, and now this last date is approaching. This is a special FD scheme of SBI, in which investment has to be made for 400 days.

7.6% interest to senior citizens
Tremendous interest is being offered in this special FD scheme of SBI. While general customers get interest at the rate of 7.1 percent, the bank provides interest at the rate of 7.6 percent to senior citizens. In this scheme, the maturity interest is deposited in the customer's account after deducting TDS. TDS will be levied at the rate applicable under the Income Tax Act. Investors can invest up to Rs 2 crore in Amrit Kalash FD.

There is a provision for premature withdrawal of money in this scheme. That means you can withdraw money before the maturity date. According to the bank, no separate product code is required to invest in Amrit Kalash FD. In this, you can use the Yono Banking App.

Opening an account is very easy
Under the Amrit Kalash FD Scheme, account holders can avail their interest on a monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly basis. The interest deducted from TDS is deposited in the customer's account. You can use Form 15G/15H to request tax deduction exemption as per Income Tax (IT) rules. Under the scheme, citizens 19 years of age or above can open their account.

To open an account, you require an Aadhaar Card, identity proof, age identity proof, income proof, valid mobile number, passport size photograph, and e-mail ID. To apply offline you will have to go to SBI Branch.
