The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the establishment of two new medical colleges in the state: the Government Medical College in Chhapra (Saran) and the Ram Janaki Medical College and Hospital in Samastipur. MBBS courses at both colleges will commence from the 2026-27 academic year. Each college has been granted permission to admit 50 students for the MBBS course, resulting in a total of 100 new MBBS seats for Bihar. **Approval Granted for Two New Medical Colleges**
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC has issued a Letter of Permission (LoP) to both institutions. Applications had previously been submitted to the NMC seeking approval for an annual intake of 100 MBBS students at each college; however, approval has currently been granted to start with 50 seats each.

**Admission for 50 Students Each**
Starting from the 2026-27 session, Ram Janaki Medical College and Hospital in Samastipur and the Government Medical College in Chhapra will be able to admit 50 students each for the MBBS program. This will increase the total number of seats available for medical education in Bihar.
