Women’s Asia Cup 2026: Spinners power India to bundle out Pakistan for 55, registering a resounding 7-wicket win
Harmanpreet’s spin attack saw all 10 wickets fall for 32 runs.
Pakistan, who won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 23 runs in the first four overs without losing a wicket. Harmanpreet Kaur, playing her 150th T20 match as captain, introduced the spinners from the fifth over. This decision changed the course of the match. Pakistan were all out for 55 runs in 18.1 overs.
Shefali Verma struck first, dismissing Muneeba Ali (13). Shree Charani then dismissed Gul Ferozza (0) and Shawal Zulfiqar (14) in the final over of the powerplay. Prema Rawat and Deepti Sharma then dismantled the middle order. India reached the modest target of 56 for 3 in 8.4 overs.
Statistics recorded in the record books
Sri Charani took three wickets in the match, becoming the second-highest wicket-taker (34 wickets) for India in Asia Cup history. Poonam Yadav tops the list with 35 wickets. Harmanpreet Kaur also became the first player in the world to captain 150 women’s T20 Internationals.
Pakistan’s worries increase as they secure a semi-final berth
With this win, India secured a place in the semifinals after defeating Thailand and Hong Kong and China. Pakistan, on the other hand, set an ignominious record for their lowest T20I score, having been bowled out for 55, eclipsing their previous record of 56 against New Zealand in 2024.
