Lucknow, Read. Players who get injured during sports will no longer have to go to other states for treatment and rehabilitation. Sports Science and Injury Management Center is being developed at the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College in the capital at a cost of about Rs 7.17 crore. This will be the first integrated center in the state, where there is a plan to provide facilities to the players ranging from injury treatment to physiotherapy, rehabilitation, fitness, nutrition, mental health and performance improvement at one place.
The government has sanctioned Rs 716.77 lakh for the construction of the centre. At present civil work is going on. At the same time, the tender process for purchasing necessary equipment has also been completed. The center is targeted to be completed within a year of the start of construction work.
Treatment will be done with seven state-of-the-art machines
Seven state-of-the-art machines will be installed in the Sports Science Center for the treatment and recovery of players. These include whole body cryotherapy chamber, radial and focused shockwave therapy, TECAR therapy, pneumatic compression therapy, combo pain management electrotherapy and class-4 therapeutic laser.
The Whole Body Cryotherapy Chamber will feature temperatures ranging from -120 to -140 degrees Celsius. The aim is to provide modern facilities to players for recovery and treatment after injury.
Monitoring of experts from injury to return to the field
At the centre, the player will be monitored by experts from the time of injury to treatment, rehabilitation and return to the field. Along with this, fitness assessment of the players will be done and they will also be given advice to nutrition and mental health.
It is also proposed to provide treatment and rehabilitation facilities to the common people at prescribed fees. Special Secretary of Sports Department, Kumar Vineet said that this will be the first integrated facility of its kind in the Central Pradesh. The center will also be used for training coaches and sports officials.
