Swine flu cases increase in Punjab: Chandigarh: Swine flu cases are increasing in Punjab. H1N1 has been confirmed in 220 patients in the state so far. Meanwhile, the first suspected swine flu death of the season has been reported in Jalandhar. However, the health department has clarified that the actual cause of death is yet to be determined and the final result will be revealed only after the health audit.

85-year-old Mool Raj, a resident of Tajpur in Jamsher Khas area of ​​Jalandhar, was admitted to the Civil Hospital after suffering from breathing problems. He was already suffering from COPD and other health problems. His H1N1 test came positive in GMC Amritsar on September 2. He died on Friday during treatment.

According to health officials, the patient's immune system was weak and had several other diseases. So it would be too early to say at this point that the death was solely due to H1N1.

According to the data of the health department, 1,513 suspected patients have been tested since January, out of which 220 have been reported positive. 14 new cases were reported on Friday alone. Among the districts, Ludhiana is leading with 72 cases. After this, 36 cases have been registered in SAS Nagar (Mohali), 16 in Patiala, 11 in Moga, 10 in Jalandhar, 9 in Ropar and 1 in Fazilka. The number of cases in the rest of the districts is between 2 and 8.

According to the health department, there has been an increase in cases of swine flu since August. In view of this, flu corners and isolation units have been activated in hospitals and surveillance has been increased. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has said that the H1N1 strain that came out this year has not been found to be new or mutated. He has appealed to people to seek medical help on time if symptoms appear.
