Tottenham create unwanted record after goalless draw against Nottingham Forest

After being among the biggest spenders in world football this summer, Tottenham began the season with hopes of dragging themselves out of trouble and re-establishing themselves among the Premier League’s leading sides.

The north London club signed the likes of Sandro Tonali, Savinho, Omar Marmoush, Mateus Fernandes and others, with their outlay reaching nearly £300M.

However, their start to the 2026/27 Premier League season has been poor, with one draw and two defeats leaving them 17th in the table. And in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest, Roberto De Zerbi’s team set an unwanted record.

Spurs managed only seven shots, and none of them were on target across the 90 minutes at the City Ground.

That means Tottenham have now failed to score in their opening three league matches for the first time since 1974.

They have been dragged into relegation battles in each of the last two seasons, and they will be desperate to avoid a third straight campaign spent fighting near the bottom of the Premier League.
