Unai Emery's Aston Villa have been handed a triple boost ahead of their trip to Hull City on Saturday.

An injury-hit Aston Villa have received three pieces of positive news before Saturday's meeting with Hull City, with the pre-match press conference providing updates on four injured players.

Emery's team have lost both of their Premier League matches so far this season, having been beaten 4-0 by Brighton in their opening fixture.

That was followed by a 1-0 defeat to reigning champions Arsenal at Villa Park. They now travel to face newly-promoted Hull with three fresh players expected to be involved and in line to make appearances.

Emery gave updates on four injured players during his pre-match press conference before Villa's clash with Hull.

On Johan Manzambi, the Villa manager said: "He's training with the group, and he's progressively getting better.

"But he will need some more days for Tuesday in the Champions League, or for our next match against Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, Joao Gomes will miss the trip through suspension, while Brian Madjo is set to remain out for another couple of weeks.

Amadou Onana is recovering from reconstructive knee surgery and will not be available for the Villans any time soon.

However, the club are expecting three of their new signings to feature on Saturday, or at least travel with the squad, providing a timely triple boost.

Those players are Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Leon Goretza and Ibrahim Mbaye, all of whom are expected to make the trip.

Emery said: "I think the players are ready, and some players after we signed in the last week.

"They are going to be progressively better and better, understanding better our way to play.

"Tomorrow, hopefully we can do one step forward," concluded the Villa boss.

Villa take on Hull City tomorrow in a match that kicks off at 5:30pm BST and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
