Ludhiana: Taking forward the second phase of 'Mission Clean Punjab', Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur on Tuesday led an awareness-cum-cleanliness campaign in various areas of Ward No. 13. During the awareness-cum-cleanliness campaign, Mayor Inderjit Kaur and other officials of the Municipal Corporation interacted with the local residents to bring positive change at the grassroots level.

Municipal Corporation's Joint Commissioner Amanpreet Singh, Supervising Engineer Praveen Singla and other officials of the Health Branch of the Municipal Corporation also participated in this campaign. Mayor Inderjit Kaur said that the goal of ensuring cleanliness in the entire city cannot be achieved without the cooperation of the residents. He said that the administration and the municipal corporation are taking various initiatives to improve the cleanliness system and residents should also cooperate with the officials.

He appealed to the residents to adopt Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) techniques for waste management. Apart from this, people were appealed to stop throwing garbage in open areas and vacant plots. Garbage should be handed over to garbage collection staff or dumped at fixed compactor locations designated by the Municipal Corporation.

Mayor Inderjit Kaur said that working under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains, they are moving towards sustainable development. Every aspect is being covered to improve waste management.

Mayor Inderjit Kaur further said that surprise inspections are also being conducted to check the situation at the ground level. To avoid departmental action, strict instructions have been issued to the field staff to ensure cleanliness in their respective areas. Similarly, challans will also be issued to those who throw garbage in the open.
