Known as “sleep tourism,” it gives travelers an alternative way to unwind, with hotels incorporating sleep-focused services in their accommodation packages.
Some offer personalized bedding, relaxing drinks, and sleep-friendly amenities, others use technology to monitor guests’ sleep and provide advice on how to improve its quality, Kyodo News reported.

According to National Geographic, sleep tourism is gaining traction as travelers increasingly seek trips focused on rest and better sleep. The trend includes a range of experiences, from dedicated sleep retreats and medically supported programs to wellness stays designed to promote relaxation.
The market is expected to grow significantly.
A report by Fortune Business Insights, a market research firm, published in early August estimated the global sleep tourism market at US$84.65 billion in 2025 and projected it to reach US$265.85 billion by 2034, growing at a compound annual rate of 13.56%.
