A new Premier League season has begun and, with only three matches played, plenty of early verdicts are already being formed. Club owners may well be making similar assessments, which means a few managers could find themselves under pressure sooner rather than later.

There were already several managerial changes before the campaign got under way. Along with those whose contracts ran out, those who stepped down, or those dismissed right at the end of last season, there were also two resignations – Kieran McKenna and Eddie Howe – while Nottingham Forest parted company with Vítor Pereira early in July.

But taking stock from the moment the season kicked off, the bookmakers have wasted little time in deciding who they believe is feeling the heat early on. Here is a closer look.

Álvaro Arbeloa Odds: 2/1

Three Premier League matches, three defeats, and the new Fulham manager has become the current favourite in the betting to be the first manager sacked since the start of this campaign.

The Cottagers were 2-1 ahead at half-time at home against Crystal Palace on Saturday, only to go on and lose 3-2. Even so, Arbeloa now has three new deadline-day signings and will hope they can make a positive difference once they settle into the side.

Pierre Sage Odds: 5/1

The relatively short price on Sage is likely influenced by Crystal Palace's first two games of the season, when they lost 2-0 away to Everton before then being comfortably beaten at home by Manchester City.

Saturday's comeback victory over the Cottagers will give the French manager encouragement ahead of what looks like a fairly favourable run of fixtures for Palace. Even so, there are still lingering doubts over the overall strength of this season's squad.

Roberto De Zerbi Odds: 6/1

Tottenham Hotspur have played three Premier League games and are yet to score a single goal, although they did at least come away from Nottingham Forest with a point.

After steadying Spurs in the closing stages of last season, there is no immediate reason for panic over De Zerbi, particularly given the amount of squad turnover during the summer. In time, though, the money spent on new players will need to turn into points on the table.

Unai Emery Odds: 10/1

If Aston Villa do go on to have a difficult 2026/27 season, it would be harsh to place most of the blame on the manager. Villa's squad has changed so dramatically this summer that early teething issues always looked likely.

Even so, the Villans are still without a Premier League win after three matches and were unable to turn their greater share of possession into goals away to Hull City last weekend.

Oliver Glasner Odds: 10/1

The odds attached to Glasner are probably more a reflection of Nottingham Forest and the club's owner than of the work the Austrian has done in the early part of the season.

Forest are among the six teams still waiting for their first win after three games, but they also had to sell star player Elliot Anderson this summer. Whether that money has been reinvested well is something that remains unclear at this early stage of the campaign.
