The Premier League's summer transfer window has now closed after a dramatic deadline day that pushed spending beyond the £3bn mark — but business is still continuing in several other countries.
There is no single global deadline, with individual leagues deciding their own opening and closing dates for transfers.
That means players can still leave England for certain destinations as clubs attempt to raise funds or reduce squad sizes following late incoming deals.
Several free agents will also continue searching for new clubs, as they are not restricted by any formal transfer deadline.
Mohamed Salah is among the biggest names to have moved to Turkey this summer after departing Liverpool, and Trabzonspor along with the rest of the Super Lig are still able to complete transfers. The Turkish transfer deadline falls on Friday, 4 September.
In Scotland, the deadline is 5pm on 3 September, leaving Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and other clubs with limited time to strengthen their squads, while Eredivisie sides in the Netherlands have until midnight on Wednesday, 2 September. Belgium's deadline comes a day after that.
The Saudi Pro League will remain open for business for several more weeks — with its window closing, to use the usual phrase, on 12 October. Clubs in Portugal also have extra time, with 15 September serving as their deadline day.
Meanwhile, in England's Women's Super League, clubs have until 11pm BST on Thursday, 3 September, to complete their transfer business.
