AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has mocked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s public relations drive and use of chartered flights, sarcastically saying he could even become the President of the United States. Responding to reports that TVK supporters are projecting Vijay as a future Prime Minister, the former chief minister said there was “nothing wrong” with such ambitions.

Palaniswami Takes Dig

Palaniswami said the state government appeared focused on social media “reels” rather than governance. He called Vijay a “costly Chief Minister” and contrasted his travel expenditure with former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s approach.

“During Amma’s tenure, projects were inaugurated via video conferencing to cut costs,” Palaniswami said, questioning the contrast between Vijay’s image as a humble farmer and his use of chartered flights.

He also dismissed the idea of Vijay becoming Prime Minister, saying sarcastically that the chief minister could even become America’s president.

Law And Order

Turning to governance, Palaniswami alleged that Tamil Nadu’s law and order situation had deteriorated. He claimed Coimbatore had recorded nearly nine murders in a single month and said murders, robberies and clashes were increasing across the state.

The AIADMK leader also accused the government of announcing schemes under Rule 110 without financial backing. He warned that continued borrowing at the current pace could push Tamil Nadu’s debt to Rs 10 lakh crore.

Palaniswami further criticised the rise in prices of essentials, including rice, sugar and cooking oil, saying the government had failed to take measures to control inflation.

He also pointed to alleged corruption and protests by farmers, nurses and members of the public as signs of dissatisfaction with the administration.

Palaniswami predicted that the government would not complete its five-year term. His remarks came as the AIADMK stepped up its criticism of the TVK-led administration, targeting both its political messaging and record on governance.
