An unemployed 21-year-old man from Hai Phong was arrested in Dak Lak Province after allegedly sneaking into local durian orchards at night and stealing 1.6 tons of fruit.
On August 31, the Ea Knuec Commune police said they had arrested Tang Ngoc Hien for theft.
A day earlier, following complaints by locals about suspicious activity, the police had apprehended Hien and seized all the stolen durian.

Hien told them he had traveled from Hai Phong to Dak Lak to work, but after losing his job and running out of money, he decided to steal durian to make ends meet.
He scouted for orchards with minimal supervision or foot traffic before targeting them at night.
He successfully carried out raids twice, being caught during his third attempt.
Authorities determined he had stolen over 1.6 tons and swiftly recovered the fruits and returned them to their owners.
