Playing for North Zone in the semi-final match of Duleep Trophy 2026, Vaibhav scored a brilliant half-century and became the youngest batsman to score a fifty in the history of the tournament.

The semi-final match is being played between North Zone and Central Zone at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. On Monday, the second day of the match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again caught everyone's attention with his aggressive batting. His innings changed the 57-year-old record of Duleep Trophy.

Completed half century in 42 balls

Central Zone, batting first, scored 266 runs in its first innings. After this, the innings of North Zone was started by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Both the openers gave a great start to the team and made a partnership of 161 runs for the first wicket. During this, Vaibhav batted in a very aggressive manner and completed his half-century in just 42 balls.

Vaibhav's batting saw a lot of fours and sixes. He was rapidly moving towards a century, but Harsh Dubey ended his innings on a personal score of 92 runs. Vaibhav hit 7 fours and 7 sixes in his innings of 81 balls. In this way, he remained only eight runs away from the century, but his innings of 92 runs definitely registered his name in the record books.

57 year old record destroyed

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's biggest achievement was to his age. He scored a half-century in the Duleep Trophy at the age of 15 years and 157 days. Earlier this record was in the name of Laxman Singh. Laxman Singh scored a half-century in the Duleep Trophy at the age of 16 years and 23 days. This record of his stood for about 57 years.

Now Vaibhav has made this record in his name by scoring fifty at a younger age than him. The special thing is that Vaibhav has achieved this feat at a time when he is still in the initial stages of his first-class cricket career.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in the news for some time now for his mature batting beyond his age.
