15 year old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had a chance to score his first first class century, but while trying to hit a big shot off the ball of spinner Harsh Dubey, he was caught out by Arshad Khan. If Vaibhav had scored a century, he would have become the youngest centurion in the history of Duleep Trophy. Currently this record is in the name of Sachin Tendulkar who achieved this feat at the age of 17 years and 262 days. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opened his account with a single. Then in the second over, he gained momentum by hitting two fours off Yash Thakur. After this, there was no looking back for Vaibhav and he hit the weak balls hard. However, Vaibhav also got a lease of life on his personal score of 40 runs, when Yash Rathod took a simple catch.
In the match, East Zone captain Ishan Kishan won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Central Zone team could score only 266 runs in the first innings. Rinku Singh scored 60 runs on 88 balls with the help of 8 fours. Aryan Juyal (46 runs) and Yash Thakur (30 not out) also made useful contributions. For East Zone, Mukesh Kumar and Abhijeet Sarkar took three wickets each. Whereas Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Kounain Qureshi took two wickets each.
