Meghna Gulzar clarified that Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, does not draw solely from the 2019 Hyderabad rape-murder case. Speaking at the film’s Mumbai trailer launch, she said the issues explored in the film occur frequently across the country.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran are collaborating on a new film titled Daayra, directed by Raazi filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. At the film’s trailer launch in Mumbai on Monday, August 31, Meghna was asked whether the film was based on the 2019 Hyderabad rape and murder case.

Responding to a question about whether Daayra was inspired by the case, Meghna explained that the film does not draw its perspective from just one incident. Instead, the filmmaker said the team looked at several cases while developing the story.
